Improving Your Business Organization Abilities

Improving Your Business Organization Abilities

In business, first impressions are key. If someone meets you for the first time, and they see how unorganized your office or business is, that could make or break your relationship with that person. Some simple organization tips are all you need to make a huge impact all over your office. Doing things as simple as making more room in your desk drawers for more storage, only keeping essentials (PC, phone, etc) on your desktop, and pre-sorting your mail and make huge headway in your business organization abilities.

Use different sized containers and boxes to store paperwork that you get on your desk, rather than leaving papers all over (and around) your desk. Likewise, store old files and paperwork, and label the boxes you store them in with dates. If you haven't used it in a year, it is probably time to file it far away. Doing this will minimize the horrible chance of you overloading a file drawer. There are few things more annoying than trying to find a paper in a file that is so stuffed that you can't move the papers around to read them.

Return emails and phone calls in shifts. Make sure that people know you are reading their emails or listening to their messages, and express this somehow in the messages you leave for them. Once the day is over, clean up your desk from that days work and make it so that when you come to work the next morning, you come into a clean, organized office, which will make the morning at work allot easier.
